Dream come true! Keep dreaming peeps :)

KUALA LUMPUR: Laut, the Malaysian restaurant in New York City, has been awarded the prestigious Michelin star for its achievements in Malaysian cuisine.

Having a Michelin star associated with a restaurant means the restaurant is not only among the best in the city but also in the world. Two other Malaysian restaurants in the city, Nyonya and Fatty Crab, also have been acknowledged in the 2011 Michelin Guide for New York City restaurants, said the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) in a statement today.

The three restaurants are participants in Matrade's Malaysia Kitchen Programme.

"The award complements the goal of our Malaysia Kitchen For The World campaign. We are confident this prestigious award will generate more excitement about Malaysian cuisines worldwide," said Wan Latiff Wan Musa, Matrade's New York-based trade commissioner.

Matrade’s Malaysia Kitchen Programme is a Malaysian government's initiative to promote Malaysian restaurants overseas and create awareness of Malaysian cuisines.

Malaysian restaurant owners overseas who participate in the programme can access extensive promotional support, which includes public relations initiatives, financial facilities via EXIM Bank Bhd, exposure at international gastronomic events and promotional tie-ups with hotels and airlines. - BERNAMA
